Burberry Prorsum S/S12 live show and tweetwalk
Burberry just keeps setting the bar higher and higher with technology and the fashion world. First was their holographic runway show in Beijing and now they’ve invented the #tweetwalk. The concept is simple enough, live, streamed HD coverage of their Burberry Prorsum S/S12 Womenswear runway show in Hyde Park, London. BUT, the amazing thing is that subscribers to @Burberry would receive twitter updates on the model’s outfit as he/she walks down the runway (check it out on the top-right corner of my screenshot). Just genius. I was watching the show while Tweetdeck was popping up updates, like my own personal running commentator. On top of that, each tweet included a backstage photo of that model’s outfit; and they also released the runway collection on their online store immediately after the show. Very, very clever.
I am genuinely impressed by how digitally savvy Burberry is. Even if this season was really not all that much to shout about, I still think it’s super clever social media marketing and a great way to generate Twitter followers and web media attention. Just brilliant.
