“I’m proud to be Singaporean, but Singapore is not where I want to live.” – Mavis
I couldn’t have said it better.
(The body of a man found in Fukushima after the tsunami – by Donald Weber)
I came across this post from FucknFilthy the other day at work and bookmarked it because of the photos in his post. Some of those photos stopped me in my tracks and some I just couldn’t tear my eyes away from.
Picture Perfect is a documentary series by Vice that delves into the lives of some amazing, world renowned photographers. These three episodes follow Stefan Ruiz, Donald Weber & Rob Hornstra around the world.
I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to open your eyes to the world, or even just to hear a good story.
I love photography, but I’m not really interested in a picture. There’s a difference between pictures of something, and pictures about something. And I want to make pictures about something.

(Chernobyl – by Donald Weber)
At the end of the day, I still think that (my) work should work on a lot of different levels – it should be interesting to look at; it should be technically well done; the subject itself, hopefully, has got a political thing. Maybe the photo makes you think about something, maybe it’s not just eye candy – it’s not just a “one idea” thing.

I am always interested in other people and how other people think about other people. So what I try to do in photography is (t0) play with this prejudice. I don’t want to say to people, “you are wrong”, or “your idea of other people is wrong”, I also don’t want to say “you are right”, but I just want people to think about it.

If there was a pair of shoes that I would fucking jump on and rape, it would be these. I think these have to be like, the Chico of the shoe world. How can anything be that sex?!
For my dearest Indian friend’s birthday, we decided to throw a Holi-themed party. But instead of throwing bright coloured powder at each other, we decided to wear colourful leggings and a black (also Indian-themed) DIY top. We had a fantastic time just being complete camera whores, laughing our asses off, drinking and just genuinely enjoying each others’ company. I love these guys so much. :D

Happy birthday, Priya. Love you long long!!!
Ghosts by The Head And The Heart
One day we’ll all be ghosts
Trippin’ around in someone else’s home
One day we’ll all be ghosts, ghosts, ghosts..
Every time I hear those lines, I feel really sad. It’s a song about growing up and all your friends leaving. It’s just depressing cause I know how that feels, and I know it’s gonna happen soon enough. One day, I’ll be somewhere far away from all the people I love and partying with new friends. It’s like when a divorced couple is fighting over who gets to keep the dog and they decide to let the dog decide by placing it in the middle of a room and then standing on opposite sides and calling to the dog.
I feel like the dog.
Anyways, I’ve been listening to The Head And The Heart a lot. They’re from Seattle and their debut self-titled album is well, really nice. It’s just one of those albums that you can’t hate, it’s easy to listen to and the tracks were put together really well. It’s a great listen from start to end.
My favourite track off their album is Down in The Valley.
